Hello Everyone,
I have been receiving a lot of phone calls from CF patients all over the country requesting assistance from paying for meds, gym memberships, and even immediate costs for hospitalizations. I have always known there was a need for a foundation like this one, but I didn't expect our foundation's name to get out to everyone as quickly as it has. I have had CF for over 30 years, and I am very excited that this foundation is a success so far and growing as fast and as quickly as it is.Â
Currently we are running this foundation with a few volunteers; everyone involved has the drive and the ability to make this foundation a huge success. However, this is going to take time. Our first ever fundraiser was a huge success, we had nearly 100 people attend and in all honestly could not have fit any more in the building. This event helped raise nearly $2,100 and opened the door to some other great opportunities and for meeting some wonderful people that are interested in joining our team.
Our next event is our first annual golf tournament in Orlando, FL at Reunion Golf Resort on Saturday September 4, 2010. We are in the need of golfers and sponsors for the event. All that information is available on this site just click here.
Since we are so new, we will not be able to provide assistance to people until January 2011. We will be placing our new application online shortly and will begin accepting these applications immediately after they are placed online. We fully understand that patients have needs right now, but again we just need time to raise the funding. We are very pleased to announce that Eurand Pharmaceutical will be providing us a grant for $500 every quarter. Every cent from this grant will be used to help CF patients.
Things you can do to help us:
Spread the word; tell every patient you know about this foundation, and that in a few months time we might be able to improve their quality of life!!
Become active member; we are in the need of volunteers for running and planning events. Use our online forums and chat room, communication is so important especially for us with CF.
Also help get people to sign up with our capitol one credit card. For every person that signs up, $50 is immediate donated to our foundation, and then 1-10% of every purchase you make with the card get donated to our foundation. As of today I has helped raise $400, every little bit helps and will make a difference for someone with CF.
We are also working on improving the website to make it a little more user friendly. The Forums and chat room is working, and we are working on having instant messaging, and a few more cool add-ons.
